Gangs Of London: Sky Announces Season 2

The Sky Original "Gangs of London" was extended by a second season. The very successful first season in the UK can be seen in Germany, Austria and Switzerland from July 23. The new episodes again focus on the inner workings of the largest criminal organization in London. In her home country, the series was praised for her contemporary exploration of the gangster genre and for her elaborately choreographed combat sequences and was one of the most successful series starts in the past five years. The opening sequence alone was seen by more than two million viewers and is therefore more successful than Sky 's own productions "Chernobyl" and "Save Me". Almost a million viewers watched the entire first season on demand within the first two weeks.
"Gangs of London" was created by Gareth Evans ("The Raid)" and his creative partner Matt Flannery. The series is being produced on behalf of Sky Studios by Pulse Films in collaboration with Sister. Filming is scheduled to start next year and is scheduled to air in 2022.
In the meantime, "Gangs of London" is also conquering the non-European market. AMC has acquired the license rights for the US market and is joining as a second season co-producer. "Gangs of London" will be on AMC this fall.
Season two of "Gangs of London" was commissioned by Zai Bennett, Managing Director of Content at Sky UK, and Cameron Roach, Director of Drama at Sky Studios. Gabriel Silver for Sky Studios, Thomas Benski and Lucas Ochoa for Pulse Films and Jane Featherstone for Sister are executive producers. NBCUniversal Global Distribution and Pulse Films share the series' licensing rights.
About "Gangs of London": For 20 years, Finn Wallace (Colm Meaney) was the most powerful gangster boss in London. But now he's dead – and no one knows who ordered the attack. His son Sean (Joe Cole) takes the helm of his family business, which organizes drug imports, money laundering and other mafia activities through bribery and skilful networking. With the help of the Dumani family, led by Ed Dumani (Lucian Msamati), he tries to take his father's place and fill the sudden vacuum of power between the various gangs. Seemingly by chance, Sean meets the powerful Elliot Finch (Sope Dirisu), who supports him in his search for his father's murderers.
The hunt for the clients behind the murder of gangster boss Finn Wallace creates "The Raid" director Gareth Evans as an action-packed search for traces through the underworld of London, peppered with uncompromising fight scenes and brutal action. From the Irish Kingpin to the Albanian mafia to the Pakistani drug cartel, "Gangs of London" gives a tour of the entire multi-cultural scene of organized crime in the British metropolis. But not only that; under the concentrated action and violence there is also a family drama. Subliminally it is about what constitutes a family and how strong or weak loyalties can be without blood ties.
The international cast of Joe Cole ("Peaky Blinders"), Colm Meaney ("Hell on Wheels"), Michelle Fairley ("Game of Thrones") and Lucian Msamati ("The International", "His Dark Materials") also includes Iranian Narges Rashidi, who grew up in Germany ("Under the Shadow", "The Specialists – In the Name of Victims").
